It’s July 8!

I am 2 months and 2 days post surgery and well into my chemotherapy schedule and I am grateful! For the last week and a half to two weeks I have been crabby and a little sad by several things. However, today I am returning to my spirit of gratitude. I am grateful for the simple dollar store book that’s helping to return to me to my happy place,; for the mommy cruise ladies that are doing their best to shore me up by helping in every way. I am grateful that this chemotherapy administration is working out despite today’s late start. I am grateful for my sisters who  visited and took extraordinary steps to see to my care and comfort as well as of that of my children. I am grateful that my sister-in-law was able to visit and help as well as be here to witness her nephews being baptized. I am grateful for my husband who works a full schedule and still arranges to keep the yard manicured and complete my million chemo induced honey do list.

Blessings!

Running Hard and having fun, the Baptism and other things!

Dear Friends,

I am sorry I have not updated in a few days, but here’s the latest; my happies came to visit  and we have been running. We went swimming right after they came on Wednesday, actually they went in, I just watched from the sidelines. On Thursday, the sisters and I took them skating and oh what a blast they had, after they took their faces off the ground. They learned so quickly, by the end of the adventure all 6 kids had made HUGE leaps in their ability to stay upright on those skates. They all had a blast climbing the rock wall. On Friday, we spent quite a bit of time prepping food for the big day. It was the 4th of July, America’s independence but our boys had decided weeks before that they wanted to take a decision to declare their dependence on God. They did it, we are so PLEASED that they followed through with their decision and we pray for God’s continued direction and protection on their life.

Blessings!

Its Been 3 Days

Hi All,

I have missed you! I spent the last few days hanging with the aunts and a friend at MAMA MIA. I also got my sleep aid changed and it seem to be helping. I am also really excited about this weekend when family and friends are going to be in town to celebrate the boys’ commitment to Jesus through baptism. A great 4th of July weekend it shall be!

Blessings!

June 25 & 26 chemo day 2 of cycle 2 and other matters!

Everyday I seem to focus more on customer service, when I receive quality service and the times I do not. I believe there is a time coming when I will use this information to improve lives.

On another note, the last couple of days have been fun having Huey at the hospital taking care of me as well as at home doing the same. He is an amazing man and I treasure him! It’s back to work for him tomorrow but the next day is the Sabbath so we will be together then. The aunts are coming today and I look forward to that as we are going to have a fun evening out!

The highlight of this week was when pastor and wife offered to watch the boys when we had to go to the hospital on Wednesday for chemo. Our usual support were both out of town and they offered to step in. Beyond that, they remembered and reached out to us before Wednesday to ask if we would need them! Who does that? We feel so blessed and honored to have their prayers and support but this week we needed practical help and they came through, truly ministering to our needs the way God asks! We are especially grateful for them this week. May God’s blessings continue on them and direct their ministering to even greater heights!

Blessings!

June 23rd and 24th

I believe in customer service, its critical to every person whether you are in business or healthcare, in fact whatever your industry/calling/ministry. I have been quick to highlight people who for me epitomize service. On the other hand, I note when the opposite occurs too. I am in the process of addressing some concerns i have had with service.

On a another note, happy birthday to my nephew who turns 12 today! Unbelievable as it seem he is almost a teenager. Happy birthday Buddy, may God continue to light your way!

It’s chemotherapy day, praying all goes well.

Blessings!

It’s Another Monday!

Its Monday again and I am grateful that I am here! I am grateful for my sister who stood for hours to wash and juice carrots and ginger for me. All this although she had a research paper to present hours later. I am grateful that my boys are doing well. I am grateful that I get to supervise their summer learning! I am grateful for my husband and the amazing father he is and continues to be. I am grateful that I am tolerating chemotherapy pretty well. I am just super grateful!

Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day, I feel so blessed to be able to help the boys celebrate Huey. Its amazing what time can do, I remember when they were really young and it was all on me to make Father’s Day special. Now, they take their money jar to Walmart, pick out Father’s Day gifts, pick out a nice card, check out all by themselves. So grateful that they are growing up and becoming more self-sufficient.

Something that is different for me as I am out and about is how much nicer people seem to be to me because of my shaved head. I have mixed feelings about it, dont get me wrong, great customer service is always welcome but not sure i want it/ deserve it because chemotherapy took my hair! Anyway, will keep thinking about this one!

Happy Father’s Day All.

Blessings!

Day 4 Chemotherapy cycle 2

Yesterday was a really good day out with the boys, we got so much done! As usual, I found my human angels, the guy from Wal-Mart and Kristin H. I have wondered recently if the world is getting nicer or its me seeing things through rose tinted glasses, whatever it is, I like it! So grateful, for  everything!

And how could I forget, Sis Bailey, saw her in.Wal-Mart, when told about my diagnosis she encouraged me and immediately asked how is Bro Millen? She warmed my heart because so often the caregiver is overlooked! Grateful!

Blessings!

Day 3 Chemotherapy Cycle 2

What a fantastic day! I got to spend the day at home with my three boys, we were able to hangout decluttering, no rush. On top of that, Pastor and wife stopped in the discuss the boys’ decision to be baptized. We had a great visit and Myrlande helped me with my decluttering:). Christina stopped in too, we had a fantastic visit, such a job to share with someone with common values.

And of course, yesterday Sacha and I went out to the mall. We stopped into the children’s store Crazy 8 and we had not one or two but three human angels. The quality of the customer service was over and above. I so wish there was a way to highlight their work publicly. Great job ladies, may God continue to light your way and strengthen you to continue your ministry.

And for my nurse who left for work today, there are no words. Thank you for who you are and who you continue to be for me and us. Blessings always on you, you are marked by God!

Day 2 of Chemotherapy Cycle 2

Yesterday I completed day 1 of cycle 2 of chemotherapy. Things went so smoothly, it appears we have worked out the kinks and have been extremely efficient at getting me in and out. I really appreciate every member of the team. It was a great day too because our friend Basiela offered to keep the boys. She took them swimming for 3.5 hours with her nephews then off to Red Robin for lunch then back to her house for playing. When we got to her house they stayed for a few minutes.

Our day was pretty interesting for us to, the GI doctor who diagnosed my ovarian cancer. Dr Roland Chin-Lue came to visit me and we talked about lots of things including an opportunity for me to provide some support in the field. I am extremely excited about this opportunity. Grateful that wonderful medical providers have taken the opportunity to go over and above in my care and to my husband an excellent clinician who operates with compassion and professionalism no matter who he interacts with from the people who clean “Mr C” ect, he treats all men as equal and he is clearly loved and respected by people at the top, his peers as well in junior positions. So grateful for him and his way.

Blessings!
