Chemotherapy Day 9 cycle 1

Yesterday, I received yet another miracle from God. Woke up at 4:30 and got everything organized and dropped the kids to school to get to hospital for early chemotherapy to ensure that we could get done and get to Ben’s school for his final day of fifth grade clap-out ceremony. Well, despite some good planning, and solid sacrifice things did not go as planned. Completed blood-work on Monday to ensure that all that would need to happen yesterday is for pharmacist to see me and mix and warm chemotherapy drug to get started. Well, took a while to warm drug, oncologist also ordered more fluids than last time, everything was going to take longer! By 1 o’clock I was really discouraged and I let myself cry a little because I had tried so hard. But it was not over, Becky, our nurse did some truly creative things (in consult with oncologist) and by 2:15 she had me in a wheelchair scuttling through the bowels of the hospital on our way to Ben’s clap-out. I love how God works things out even when we come down to the wire! I also truly love how people partner with him, no matter what, to help accomplish something that is personally important to someone else, even if not a HUGE deal in the grand scheme of things! Thanks Becky, you helped one 5th grade mom and dad be there for their boy’s final day, that’s a HUGE deal in my book!

As usual, through it all Huey was his usual calm and sure self doing quietly creative things including weighing in with the team to ensure that we were BOTH going to make it to the clap-out. He knew how important it was for me to be there and even though I had told him to leave me at the hospital and come get me later to ensure that Ben wasn’t missing both parents, he would not take that option. WE both were going to be there, and we were! God knows who I needed and gave me you!

Grateful for HIS Blessings!
