Super late post, but here goes…
Follow-up visit to the doctor today:
I met with the surgeon today and shared my decision to have chemotherapy. She went through the treatment protocol and we discussed possible reactions as well as some discussion on my healing from the surgery.
She gave me an A+ on healing so far and thinks I will be able to resume more activities, with some care! I also requested that she have me get some blood work at this juncture. So, blood work was also done today, results to follow. Incidentally, blood work should help determine how well kidneys, liver ect are doing as well as if I am on my way to licking the anemia.
I continue to rely on my faith and the support of all of you . My boys are doing well under the circumstances, they are feeding from my attitude and I am holding the line. Yesterday Huey and I met with a therapist to ensure that we are handling my health issues in the best way possible, particularly for the boys. The session went well and I will most likely be meeting with her in a couple weeks, depending on chemo schedule. By the way, surgeon will be scheduling week of 5/25, we told her that early in the week is better than closer to weekend, we will see. She is also working on scheduling procedure to have a port placed for chemo treatment. The plan is Wk 1= IV+IP (port), Wk 2= IV WK3=rest. So 3 week cycles of treatment, 6 cycles in all, 18 weeks total. Dont have the exact cocktail of drugs available right now but it will include steroids, anti-nausea meds as well as the drug to blast the abnormal cells.
That’s all for now.
Blessings!
